Meeting and exchanging ideas at our joint stand
At the Futouris and KlimaLink e.V. stand, our Project Manager Tatjana Peters met long-standing partners, made new contacts and spoke with many interested tourism professionals. Discussions focused on current Futouris projects and how companies can work together to address sustainability challenges in tourism.
Sustainability on the congress agenda
Thursday's programme also placed sustainability firmly in the spotlight.
In his keynote speech, “The Worst Is Yet to Come”, Prof. Dr Mojib Latif highlighted the challenges climate change poses for business and society, emphasising that every company has a responsibility to take action.
Bruce Poon Tip, founder of G Adventures, used practical examples to demonstrate the role tourism can play in supporting local communities. The panel discussion “Tourism as a Conservationist” then explored how nature and biodiversity can be better integrated into tourism offerings.
The programme also included the presentation of the EcoTrophea, the DRV's award recognising commitment to sustainable tourism. This year's winner is HX Expeditions. Congratulations!
Key takeaways from Berlin
The challenges of the future can only be tackled together. It is encouraging to see the commitment and innovative spirit with which Futouris members are already addressing current sustainability issues in tourism.
Many thanks to the German Travel Association (DRV), our patron, for the invitation, the excellent organisation and an inspiring programme full of food for thought!
