Digital Toolkit für destination resilience

Digital Toolkit für destination resilience

The digital toolkit for building resilient and sustainable tourism destinations explains key resilience concepts and demonstrates in five steps how to analyze and build the resilience of destinations, complemented by practical examples and ready-to-use tools.

Digital Toolkit für destination resilience

Tourism is a significant economic factor in many developing and emerging economies, and thus serves as a vital instrument for sustainable local development. However, crises—such as the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020—and armed conflicts force the global tourism industry to confront substantial restrictions and losses, thereby underscoring the critical importance of better preparing for future crises.

This effort is supported by the digital toolkit for building resilient and sustainable tourism destinations, which was developed in collaboration with the German Committee for Disaster Reduction (DKKV), with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH, and on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
