Guest Communication

Guest Communication

Thoughtful guest communication is an essential part of your sustainability strategy. Find out how to put it into practice.

Guest Communication
  • Provide engaging information about your food and drink offering.

  • Focus on relevant information, such as production methods, purchasing strategies, calorie and nutritional information, working conditions, animal welfare and environmental impacts.

  • Create informative displays highlighting the main ingredients of dishes. This helps guests make informed choices and reduces waste caused by trying unfamiliar foods. Also provide dietary and allergy information in accordance with applicable legal requirements, and clearly label vegan, vegetarian, organic and Fairtrade products.

  • Highlight ingredients sourced from regional and local producers, including the distance from the hotel in kilometres.

  • Provide additional information on tables in the dining area or on digital displays, where available.

  • Use storytelling. For example, name the farms that supply your ingredients and highlight production methods such as organic farming. Tell a story about your food.

  • Inform guests in a positive way. They are on holiday and want to enjoy their stay. Creating a positive atmosphere is therefore essential. Avoid exaggeration or dramatisation: guests should not feel guilty or associate their culinary experience with negative emotions.

  • Organise special themed weeks or days as part of your communication strategy.
