The Impact of Nudging

The Impact of Nudging

Nudging works! A holiday resort in Gran Canaria provides an inspiring example of how small changes in communication can influence guest behaviour.

The Impact of Nudging

The effectiveness of these communication tools in a real-world setting was extensively evaluated, with consistently positive results. By combining different tools, such as posters at the entrance, speech bubbles and display signs at the buffet, and tabletop displays on guest tables, a holiday resort in Gran Canaria was able to increase the consumption of local food by more than 350% for certain products and reduce plate waste by up to 15%.

The most effective tool was the tabletop display: almost all guests noticed it, and more than half read its content in detail. The buffet speech bubbles were also noticed by nearly 90% of guests, while the poster or roll-up display at the entrance reached around 70% of guests.
