Sustainable Hotel Offers in Booking Systems
The Futouris project Green Travel Transformation has entered the next round: The results of surveys with expedients and customers on sustainable travel offers show what is most important to customers in terms of sustainable travel. Socially appropriate working conditions for local employees, conscious handling of regional culture, protection of flora, fauna and landscape are three of the seven identified core criteria for sustainability in hotels.
Experts work out key words for booking systems
On Wednesday Futouris met with the project partners of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, communication experts and expedients and elaborated key words on the basis of the determined criteria to label sustainable hotels in booking systems and catalogs. The labeling of sustainable travel offers in the booking systems and catalogs of travel agencies is an important milestone in order to strengthen the sustainability of tourism. Due to missing information the aspect of sustainability could not be considered in the sales talks. This is about to change soon! The Round of Experts also developed sales arguments, appropriate communication channels and measures to support the employees at the counter in the sale of sustainable travel.
Training for travel brokers in the sale of sustainable offers
Keywords and sales arguments are now to be tested by the project team, together with the project partners, before they are made available for large-scale implementation in the booking systems. At the same time, the (further) development of a training program for travel brokers in the sale of sustainable hotel offers is currently be done on the basis of the existing online training course “DRV Green Counter”. More information about the Green Counter can be found here.
Representative studies such as the F.U.R. Travel analysis show: More and more travelers want information about sustainable travel.
