Futouris part of European SUSTOUR-project
Since September 2020 Futouris is part of the project „SUSTOUR – Promoting sustainability among the European tour operator sector through a business led approach“ which is led by ECEAT, the European Center for Eco and Agritourism . Other project partners are (among others) European Association of National Associations of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (ECTAA) as well as the local association of travel agencies and tour operators.
SUSTOUR aims to foster the capacities and skills of more than 175 tour operators (SME’s) to implement training, management systems, standards and solutions, which will improve their sustainable management and performance and open up new market opportunities. 175+ SME’s will be selected to benefit from the wider direct financial support program and 120 tour operators will be coached towards complying with 100+ best practices through onsite, group and distance coaching.
As a result it is expected that 120 tour operators will obtain the basic Travelife Partner award and 60 tour operators will receive the Travelife Certified award of which at least 10+ EMAS registration.
In particular, the project seeks to update existing and to develop existing standards, training and (online) implementation tools to effectively implement sustainability within tour operators and their supply chain. A group of advisors and auditors from 12 different countries will be trained and certified.
Futouris is responsible for the development of new and the improvement of existing standards, trainings and tools which will help tour operators to reduce and better manage their plastic and food waste.
SUSTOUR is co-financed by the European COSME Program that aims to boost the competitiveness and sustainability of European SME’s.
