I'm a Futourist

Lucienne Damm Environmental Manager, TUI Cruises, and Vice Chairwoman Futouris

because responsibility for future generations has no limits.

TUI Cruises

TUI Cruises is a joint venture of TUI AG and the global cruise ship company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. The company was founded in 2008 and offers holidays at sea for the german speaking market. The Premium All Inclusive concept appeals to couples and families who value free spaces, generosity, quality and individual service. Environmental awareness is anchored in the business philosophy of TUI Cruises. The new cruise ships set new standards for environmental-friendliness.

From the start, TUI Cruises was not only committed to the support of environmental protection but wanted to be actively involved. We are aware of our responsibility for nature and humans and are actively commited into sustainability activities. As a member if Futouris e.V. we hope to promote environmental protection in specific projects as well as to underline the importance of the work of Futouris e.V. and its members and to make it more popular in the public.

Sponsoring the following projects

Travelling climate-consciously

The tourism industry is a major contributor to global warming, accounting for around 8% of all emissions. In order to substantially and measurably reduce the absolute carbon emissions of the industry and also to help customers choose more climate-friendly holidays, Futouris and its members are developing a standard for the calculation of carbon emissions from the individual components of the (tourism) value chain.

Plastic-free holidays on Balearic Islands

Reducing the plastic waste generated by tourism and improving the recycling of unavoidable plastic waste on Balearic Islands – these are the goals of the industry project "Plastic-free holidays on the Balearic Islands" the Futouris members are implementing together with the Government of the Balearic Islands.

Sustainable Food - guest communication

Where does the food that is offered on the buffet come from, how is it produced, is the food on my plate typical for the country? These are questions inwhich more and more travelers are interested.

Reduction of food waste on cruise ships

Avoiding food waste is an important aspect of sustainable tourism. There are as yet no studies on the extent to which food waste on cruise liners can be avoided.
