Building on the potential of tourism as a force for good, the TUI Care Foundation supports and initiates partnerships and projects which create new opportunities for the young generation and contribute to thriving destinations all over the world. Connecting holidaymakers to good causes, the TUI Care Foundation fosters education and training initiatives to open up new opportunities and perspectives for young people, the protection of the natural environment in holiday destinations and sustainable livelihoods in thriving destinations where local communities can benefit even more from tourism. TUI Care Foundation works global and acts local - it builds on strong partnerships with local and international organisations to create meaningful and long lasting impact. The charitable foundation values transparency and the efficient use of funds. Therefore; 100% of the donations go to partners and projects with all operating costs of the foundation covered by TUI. TUI Care Foundation was founded by TUI, the world’s leading tourism business, in 2011 and is based in the Netherlands.

Reducing the plastic waste generated by tourism and improving the recycling of unavoidable plastic waste on Balearic Islands – these are the goals of the industry project "Plastic-free holidays on the Balearic Islands" the Futouris members are implementing together with the Government of the Balearic Islands.
This project focusses on supporting the organic and traditional wine growing in order to preserve the natural resources of Lanzarote and the cultural heritage of La Geria. Simultaneously the local wine producers are being linked to the hotel industry so that new distribution channels will be built and guests can “taste” the unique character of La Geria.
In a pilot project of BMZ, TUI Care Foundation an Futouris e. V., 20 girls from the "NFA Girls Center" were able to attend a three - month preparatory course in the hospitality industry and apply for the Scholarships. Twelve of them have already begun with the training.
Where does the food that is offered on the buffet come from, how is it produced, is the food on my plate typical for the country? These are questions inwhich more and more travelers are interested.
In this project local farmers are brought to a better understanding of sustainable management methods and are connected with local tourism professionals. The link will be used to identify and exploit synergies between food producers and holiday makers.
Food waste measurements in the participating hotel are carried out in cooperation with United Against Waste e.V. and their waste analysis tool. Based on the findings, a set of recommendations will be developed to promote a more responsible handling of food.
The project supports the trainees of the Don Bosco Hotel School in Cambodia in gaining an understanding of sustainable tourism and thereby enhances the job opportunities of the young people. At the same time, the tourism in Cambodia in general will get more sustainable by profiting from their multiplier effects.
