Annual general meeting 2018
Prof. Dr. Harald Zeiss and Lucienne Damm, elected by the members as chairman and vice chairwoman of Futouris in October 2017, held this year’s annual general meeting.
The members of the Futouris Scientific Advisory Committee, who had discussed project subjects and current developments of Futouris on the previous day, also participated in the meeting. On the picutre: Prof. Dr. Dagmar Lund-Durlacher (left) in a discussion with Prof. Dr. Edgar Kreilkamp (right).
With the Executive Board, Scientific Advisory Committee and team, the Futouris member companies jointly discussed the future industry project, among other subjects.
Looking back on ITB 2018
On ITB Wednesday, the first major highlight took place: The Thomas Cook Hoteliers Reception in cooperation with the Tunisian National Tourist Office. Thomas Cook Group CEO Dr. Peter Fankhauser and the Tunisian Tourism Minister Selma Elloumi Rekik opened the event.
Stefanie Berk, Managing Director Thomas Cook Central Europe & East (first person from the right), and Futouris Co-Managing director Caroline Steimle (third person from the right) presented the common involvement in Tunisia. Also present: Mehdi Allani, President of the Fédération Tunisienne de l’Hôtellerie (second person from the right).
The project is designed to qualify hotel employees with the aim to increase service quality and raise awareness of sustainability in Tunisia.
On ITB Thursday, the ITB Tourism for Sustainable Development Day took place. At short notice, Futouris Chairman of the Executive Board Prof. Dr. Harald Zeiss participated in the panel discussion “Initiative With The Cruise Industry To Conserve Marine And Coastal Ecosystems” and emphasised the close cooperation between tourism companies and destinations to find solutions for existing problems.

In the subsequent panel discussion on “Training and Employment Promotion”, Stefanie Berk (left) presented the qualification project in Tunisia which is realized by Thomas Cook and Futouris in the course of the develoPPP.de programme.
On Friday, everything revolved around “Sustainability in Travel Marketing”: Prof. Dr. Edgar Kreilkamp opened the panel by presenting the first results of the testing phase in the travel agencies.
mascontour managing director Matthias Beyer moderated the panel and the participants discussed about the industry-wide consistent labelling of sustainability certified hotels. The tour operators’ point of view was represented by Alexander Breitkreutz, Managing Director DER Travel Agency Divisions and VP IT, DER Deutsches Reisebüro…
… and Friederike Grupp, Sustainability Consultant, Thomas Cook and Member of the Executive Board of Futouris.
Chairman of the Executive Board of Futouris Prof. Dr. Harald Zeiss and DRV President Norbert Fiebig also participated in the panel and emphasied the significance of the project for the travel industry.
